ABOUT ZENON MARKO

Zenon Marko is a Ukrainian-American composer, producer, recording engineer, electronic musician, DJ, drummer, and philosopher residing in New York City. Marko produces, composes, and performs in genres ranging from ambient, electronic, neoclassical, downtempo, rock, progressive, techno, house, "world", dub, and improvisational. His work has been released and on the charts internationally, and placed in TV programs, ad campaigns, fashion shows, dance performances, art exhibits and installations, and other live and multimedia events. 

Marko creates and performs under his own name as well as through a number of collaborative and project identities.  These include Metasonica, a collaboration with Boris Berlin, and his new multi-genre project Sensualism.  Marko has also formed Sense Time, a new dub techno project with Alex Haas.  Other current projects include a multi-genre, multilingual downtempo project and KHM, a live collaboration that hybridizes Ukrainian traditional music with contemporary electronics and rhythm, featuring dancer Oksana Horban (of Momix) and bandurist Julian Kytasty.

As a solo artist, Marko released the pioneering symmetrical concept album "Symmetry", an exploration of ambient and electronic music organized around principles of musical symmetry.  A new multi-genre multi-lingual downtempo project is also in development. His second solo album, Morning Star, is a collection of ambient piano works created in memory of his late mother. His forthcoming solo album, Rhythmetry, further explores relationships between rhythm, structure, and pattern.  Also in development is a new minimal ambient-neoclassical project.

Marko is the founder and owner of Disreality, a music production company, recording studio, and record label located in Tribeca in downtown Manhattan. Disreality also hosts New World, an ongoing creative salon series designed to foster artistic community and provide a setting in which musicians and other artists can improvise, experiment, collaborate, and present works in progress.

Dr. Marko is also an adjunct professor of philosophy at Montclair State University. His philosophical research focuses on metaphilosophy and epistemology, particularly philosophical skepticism and the problem of beginning: the question of how inquiry, reasoning, and justification can begin without presupposing what they seek to establish. His broader work increasingly explores intersections between philosophy, music, and the visual arts, including projects that translate philosophical ideas into interdisciplinary artistic forms.

Marko is also developing research at the intersection of music, sound, and health, with particular interest in the potential use of sound and music in the treatment and management of migraine and related conditions. Across his musical, philosophical, and interdisciplinary work, he investigates relationships among perception, structure, rhythm, meaning, and experience.
